Haier 12 Bottle Dual Zone Wine Cooler Review

If you’re in search of a Wine Cooler to keep both your red and white wines constantly at a serving temperature you relish, the Haier 12 Bottle Dual Zone Wine Cooler is probably your best option. Let’s go through every aspect of this model and you can decide if it’s something you require.

What are the Temperature Ranges of this Haier Wine Cooler?

The cooler is divided into two sections, a bottom zone and an upper zone (Dual Zone). The Upper compartment is ideal for red wines and the lower for white wines. A dual touch screen with LED display allows you to switch control between the two zones.

The upper zone can be adjusted anywhere between 46-66F and the lower zone at 54-66F.

How loud is it going to be?

First and foremost you need to know that this Haier Dual Zone Wine Cooler is totally vibration free as the motors are steady in their position. If silence is what you’re in search of, this model is just what you need. It cannot be heard under normal circumstances. However, in pin-drop silence you’d notice that it is as loud as most desktop computers.

During the summers, the motors are going to be running almost constantly if you stay in high temperature localities. In such cases you may notice that the sound is just like that of a mini-fridge. Again, this isn’t loud at all.

All in all, I wouldn’t call it ultra-silent, but if I say it’s noise, I’d just be exaggerating. This question has been asked and most people have said it's "Quiet" but there are mentions that it can be heard when in the same room and there's no other sound around. Learn more about Noise.

Does this Haier Cooler Fit all Sized Wine Bottles?

Yes, it does fit all sized wine bottles, but if they’re too large (Champagne sized fatter bottles) you would need to use the bottom shelf of each side. You’ve also got the option to remove shelves if required. Since they slide in and out easily, it’s not a chore at all! You’ll surely love this feature.

As you may have guessed, it’s got provisions to store 6 bottles in the upper zone and 6 on the lower zone. The six wide chrome storage racks are a classy addition to the sleek black cabinet that houses your wine bottles.

Does it come with Leveling Legs and how high is it?

Sadly, the legs are fixed in position and you cannot adjust them as per the contour of your mini-cellar or kitchen floor. So if you’ve got a carpet, you’re best off placing it on a board.

The total height of this Haier wine cooler is 26”. Some of you may be confused with the other dimensions mentioned on the merchant sites.

Does it have a locking system?

Sadly the Haier HVTEC12DABS doesn’t come with an inbuilt locking system and there’s no way for you to add one to it either. If you’ve got a toddler at home and are looking to child proof the house or maybe just keep these bottles out of reach of your kids, this isn’t the best option. There are other similar models (maybe from other brands even) that offer locking facilities.

The lighting doesn’t seem that good – Is it?

If you see the product image it’s pretty obvious that the lighting inside the wine cooler isn’t that great. You can’t really see past the top tier and the illumination keeps decreasing as you move further down. However, lighting shouldn’t be an issue here as you’ve got just 12 bottles at maximum capacity. Keeping track isn’t an issue at all. The faint lighting actually gives this unit a classy look.

Apart from the light just at the top tier, the curved door has smoked glass (which is double layered to retain the coolness) and this decreases the intensity of the light even more.

Working of the HVTEC12DABS and its Efficiency

Compressor Cooling and Thermo Electric Cooling are the two kinds you commonly find in wine coolers. This Haier HVTEC12DABS 12 bottle wine cooler uses thermoelectric cooling. Thermoelectric cooling is quite and uses energy efficient fans to draw out warm air from within the wine cooler.

They are far more efficient and definitely a lot quieter than their compressor counterparts.

You'd also like to know that the door has hinges on the right and opens towards the right. With a three prong plug, the Haier HVTEC12DABS is the best-selling Freestanding Wine Cellar on Amazon. Check out reviews by verified buyers.
